Sophie Jump

Designer and Director

Sophie Jump trained in theatre design at Central St Martins. She designs for theatre and is Associate Director and designer for Seven Sisters Group who are well known for their site-specific work. Her work has been selected to represent Britain at every Prague Quadrennial since 1999 and she was chosen to receive the Gold Award for ‘exceptional achievement across all categories’ at World Stage Design 2013.

Theatre credits include: Tell Them That I Am Young and Beautiful (Arcola Theatre), Uncle Vanya (Belgrade Theatre Studio/Arcola Theatre), Led Easy (Cardboard Citizens), The Tempest (Shared Experience) and Full Moon (Theatr Clwyd/Young Vic). Seven Sisters Group credits include: Like a Fish out of Water with English National Ballet (London lidos), Atalanta (Ashmolean Museum), Asterion (V&A Museum), Salome (St Pancras Chambers), Trainstation (national trainstations), Concrete (Royal National Theatre), Ballroom (Royal Festival Hall) and The Forbidden (Royal Opera House).

Former Joint Honorary Secretary of the Society of British Theatre Designers, Sophie is a visiting lecturer at Central School of Speech and Drama, Central St Martins and Wimbledon College of Art. Sophie curated the exhibition When Marcel Met Motley at the V&A, and is currently researching a PhD on theatre designers Motley and Jocelyn Herbert.
